Do love a beef bourguignon, dauphinoise potatoes and a chateauneuf du pape on occasion. Would agree some French food is overrated though. No one across the world could name you any famous Italian seafood dishes. Where as pizza and virtually all their biggest export pasta dishes are smothered in it. Its the staple of their diet.
Only smalldick has it without.
