Just got off a company call and despite what the government may say about returning to the workplace, our CEO doesn't envisage us doing that until late summer at the earliest. Same for us - although I think optional WFH is going to be a choice forever. Itโs been comprehensively shown that we can still do our jobs from home with minimal staff in the office. Other people not so lucky like. Fucking mental they are going to turn off support to force people back to work. Be interesting to see what happens in London if the furlough scheme goes down to 60% first since the average rent in London is exactly that.

My previous firm announced last week that they were reducing the salaries of 2/3rds of their staff by a fifth with the C-Suite taking 50% pay cuts (until further notice). On the same day, they announced that they were still going to be paying dividends to shareholders. Mates who still work there are just as busy as before with the added issue of everything taking soo long to get done wfh.

I'm starting to get cabin fever. Already dreaming about moving out and getting a gaff on my own. Surely that was already a dream pre-plague? True, am i repeating myself?

I'll definitely be requesting a weekly WFH day at the very least once we return to some sort of 'normal'. I dont know how inflation works, but surely we're running in to some sort of inflationary problems whether it'll be negative or hyper inflation once we open up?

WFH could potentially save businesses millions in office hire etc., will vastly improve the situation for commuters on trains and the pressures on transport vs. the volume of people needing to use it on a daily basis. Think a lot of places will be giving this some serious consideration going forwards.
The thought of saving ยฃ260 a month plus two hours a day travelling to work on the tube is quite appealing

I replied to a customer yesterday telling him he was an idiot instead of forwarding the email to a colleague.

The issue with Office Space is going to be a massive though, Dutchy. My previous firm currently runs with a 70% occupancy and hot desking. This is going to be a thing of the past unless you're employing on-hand cleaners giving everyone personalised headsets and mandating the wearing of gloves/masks in the office.
You're actually going to need more space because you're going to have to house enough desk space to at least house a greater percentage?

My Mrs is partner in an audit firm and she says she never believed she could do everything from home and neither did the partners. Their rent is absolutely fucking horrific. She thinks they will probably downsize to admin staff space only. The firm I work for built and own the building and it's a big deal for them so doubt they'll reconsider even though again, everyone has managed to do everything from home too haha.

Haha I'll actually miss the office bants at home. There's some right cunts but generally everyone is up for a bit of light hearted piss taking etc. Usually at the Canadians expense and also have a mick who is a right loon. That makes the day go by. At home I feel like time is stuck in treacle.
