#1 Sasha - Fabric 99 [2018]
he did the impossible. He delivered the soul of a late90s mixCD with today's bland music. For that alone, he deserves the crown. Son pf God lol.
#2 Digweed - Live in Tokyo [2018]
what Brooklyn/Montreal should have been. 2002-like trance music disguised as dark-and-sweaty clubbing tribal prog. It keeps you in a tension for 5.5 hours, I really do not know how he dit it. When it ends I always feel like I wanted another 5 hours.
#3 Howells - Balance 024 [2013] Basically already perfected at the beginning of the decade the already-beaton-to-death Last Night on Earth airy-soulness-techy-wannabeexperimental-but-directionless music that dominates the 4/4 scene since Bedrock 11. Infused with classic and classy Howells groove snd sexyness. A perfectly balanced product. If it wasn't for Sasha's God-like effort with Fabric, this would have taken the #1 spot for me.
Honorable mention : Zabiela - Balance 029 have no idea why I love this but it has Zabiela's soul and personality all over it. Great mix
p.s. Sorry for typos, sent from my ipad

Baumel’s Balance, Bonobo’s Fabric, Digweed’s London and Tokyo, Craig Richards’ Nothing Special Mix, Solomon’s GU - top of my head.

Andrew Weatherall's Masterpiece mix on MOS - only just discovered this recently and it's a fucking belter.

Not memorable/timeless enough lol (joke).
Love Bonobo's effort but too casual Digweed London's is Tokyo's nemesis. Overtime it will spark the debate London v Tokyo. Good challanger Solomun's GU. Classbook material on how to terribly reboot a magical series. Tiesto is better than Solomun, NEVER understood the hype, but I respect everyone's opinion. Actually Dixon is what Solomun should have been. Craig Richard's haven't listened, thank you.

Henry Saiz Balance 019 - absolute class from start to finish. Renaissance Masters 017 Hernan Cattaneo and 018 Nick Warren - both had a downtempo and club mix and really loved them both. Anjunadeep 02 - the first two were the best although 01 was 2009 Balance Presents The Soundgarden - even better than the first release. Digweed Last Night At Output - the best in the series in my opinion.

From what I remember the Howells’ Balance was forgettable but his Renaissance mix from around the same time was a banger.
JZ’s Balance mix was underrated and superb. If it had released 3-4 years before, I’d have labelled it a classic.

Solomun's GU was terrible. How he managed to do so many off key mixes is beyond me.

His first Cercle is good, and he's done more than a few good tracks/ remixes, so not so much. Just very uneven. 10 % good stuff, 90 shit. But you still have to check out his releases to find the good ones.

Solomun's GU was terrible. How he managed to do so many off key mixes is beyond me. I’m surprised that it got so much hate and I have to consider it a guilty pleasure on here. Been a while, but from what I remember disc 1 is eclectic and chill, and disc 2 is acid madness. Do think he’s sort of become the mark knight and funkagenda of underground music in the last couple of years. Accessible and massy.

Have we reached the point of this thread yet where we just post mixes that we like?

Nope we haven't. Mine is Tiesto's ISOS 3, but that's more a Digweed vs Satoshi Tomiie disc with a Oakenfold touch.
Disc 1 of 2015's Magda's Balance is the weirdest piece of music I have heard in a mainstream series. She described it as hugging a pillow in a cozy bed. That's how it feels like lol, still bought the disc somehow. Back when Magda was what Nina Kraviz keeps trying to be to this day and failing.
Actually Magda was starting to be so hyped already in late 00s, and yet she didn't become a marketing firm success like Charlotte de Witte and Nina. Props to her. She remained relatively underground

Magda's Balance is unlistenable shite.
Chancer riding Richie Hawtins gravy train.
Fuck knows why Balance released that shite

Magda has some brilliant live mixes and the one time I saw her, she was very good. Opened for Mr. C. But that Balance really was a massive pile of shite. And there were numerous times I attempted to listen to it - lasting 15 mins max.
I have to always do a double take when I see Ellen Alien on the internet these days. She was pretty weird goth looking, almost like a heroin addict. But now she looks like a proper honey that does some quality designer drugs. I’m assuming that’s the Nina Kraviz et al effect.
