Gave that a whirl earlier, very dystopian, clever etc etc but ultimately dull.

I'll give it another whirl. Listened to the first two tracks, thought the second one was a pisstake. Will listen to the full album, nevertheless.

It seems that dull, boring, soundscape techno is the order of the day Rhouses.
Each to their own though and all that.

Adriatique - Nude. A solid lp from the swiss duo 8/10 Quivver - Rekonstruct. on the same lines as sasha's Ivolver albums only every track is a banger.A solid 9/10 if you like your melodic techno. Enjoyed Quivverâs ReKonstruct very much, especially the livelier second half. Thanks for the recommendation.

Objekt's new album Cocoon Crush is another contender for album of the year, amazing... i bought his first album without ever listening to it. when i saw it on the wall in halcyon, labeled "staff pick", i had no idea who he was. a hot hipster chic came over and bushed my hand as she helped me take it down from the wall. i frown at the $29 price tag, and a sticker reading "do not open!" in a cartoon KAPOW! style image, while she purrs "you have great taste" in my ear. "i love you, lets kill my mrs and run away together" i thought. so, i rush home to take a shower and unseal my purchase. 45 min later, and i'm two songs in; the scent of hand cut home made bar soap lingers in the air.... nothing but IDM is coming trough my monitors. i double check the "techno" store label, but all i can find is wanna be aphex twin "look at me i'm so complex" shit. i'll never give him another chance. I enjoyed the Vril album. Some lovely tracks on it. my copy came today. it's a poem. think i played the first disc 5 times today.

Krakk & Smakk - Boogie Angst compilation haven't seen these guys for a while - still ace? edit - duh - this is their old 2005 one? Bit more info from the promo mailout. Following the success of Edition One, Dutch sensations Kraak and Smaak drop a brand new sixteen-track Boogie Angst compilation of the finest cuts from their label, alongside a whole host of exclusive, forthcoming material. Itâs a delectable collection of soulful, funk inspired house, downtempo beats and indie infused electronica. Dutch homegrown talent Feiertag opens up the compilation with the beautifully cinematic âBunrakuâ, harnessing the innate soul emanating from David Harksâ vocals. This dreamy, downbeat thread runs through a number of the tracks, providing a healthy balance between the more dancefloor-orientated joints. Take to Snacksâ slo-mo piano trip âDaydreamâ, Meeka Kates and Raina Sokolov-Gonzalezâs evocatively soulful, R&B infused âNoâ or Moodsâ syncopated, electronic exploration of analog warmth, âLost Translationâ (exclusive to this comp) for prime examples of this meditative bliss. Thereâs an abundance of other exclusive material nestled in the compilation too. From indie disco three-piece Patawawa, providing an electro tinged, synth boogie gem, to the shimmering modern funk laid down by Oaklandâs E.Live on âGot Me Goodâ. Other highlights include hotly tipped Turkish multi-instrumentalist, Kerem Akdag, interweaving spiritual synth work and soulful vocal refrains over a dusty, lo-fi house beat on âIâm Youngâ, alongside Balaeric deep house authority, Luvless marrying enchantingly introspective synths with a sunset styled aesthetic for âHushâ. A Boogie Angst showcase wouldnât be complete without a smattering of funk flecked, disco leaning, club-ready weapons. I Gemin joins forces with Castanea to showcase this expertly through their sun-kissed piano house anthem, âFall In Loveâ laced with melancholic Brazilian vocals and squelching bassline. Elsewhere, New-Zealand newcomers A Band Called Success let loose on an MPC styled, dancefloor hazer, whilst Vhyce lays out an 80âs inspired, indie imbued cut, providing the perfect backdrop for Yves Paquetâs reverberated tones. With their 6th studio album not far off, Dutch maestros Kraak and Smaak also treat the compilation to recently released set-up single, âIâll Be Loving Youâ. Teaming up with long-time vocal collaborator IVAR, they channel a slice of the summer into this irresistible, funk-laden, pool party jam. Cowbell heat a plenty! A hand- picked selection of some of the most exciting producers in the scene right now; âEdition Twoâ showcases everything from dancefloor delights to horizontal haziness, all tied together with a soulfulness that the Boogie Angst label has become so well known for.
