I liked Ad Astra up until the point with the * spoiler * flying through the rings of Neptune with a piece of metal * spoiler * part.
Completely took the gloss off it for me. Agreed about the soundtrack, it was class.

What the fuck was that about, Liqui? It had me confused as well. Was there a logistical point to him doing that, or was it supposed to be some weird metaphor?

I think it was just a scene that was smashed together like a Nick Warren transition in order to get him back, like they had run out of ideas. It's the only part of the movie that sticks in my mind, which is a shame. Also, the movie had real potential to show the psychological aspect of going that far out into deep space but never really went with it, as per usual though Pitt looked like he'd just popped round to the shop for a pack of cigs. They were touching on it when he was on his way out to Neptune (some scenes looking like he was having a mental breakdown etc) but then between the scene we're talking about and returning to earth it lost all the realism. Maybe I'm being too cynical but travelling into deep space and doing it right would make a helluva movie.

Was taken aback by how quickly he reaches Neptune in terms of the movieβs run time, especially given how it plays out for Tommy Lee Jonesβ character. Iβd have preferred that journey to take more time and see Pitt go a bit mental.

Tonight's lockdown movie night with the kids was The Wizard of Oz. I can only imagine what it would have been like back when it was released going to the cinema and marvelling at the special effects and being scared shitless by the flying monkeys etc.
The kids loved it. Definitely worth watching again and again. Although it was probably the first time in a long long time that I sat through it from start to finish.
9/10

When I watched that for the first time as a kid, the wicked witch and the monkeys scared the living fuck out of me. I also realised something else that has stood by me for the rest of time - I fucking hate musicals.

Iβm going through classics with our youngest (heβs 23) and scampered through The Godfather yesterday. Obviously a brilliant film - great to watch on my massive tele.

The witch and monkey gave me nightmares too. That switch from black into colour though, epic. Iβll wait till the mini me happens before I watch it again. Was anyone druggy enough do that sync with the Dark Side of the Moon thing?

Was anyone druggy enough do that sync with the Dark Side of the Moon thing? i did about half an hour of it a couple of months back, moderate dose of edibles (wasn't in the vortex), and it was pretty cool. the timing of the music and lyrics at certain points is crazy.

Iβll give you those two to be fair, Dan. And Grease.

Has anybody watched The Godfather The Complete Epic 1901-1959 where they tie all the films together? Pretty decent as i'd never watched the third film. Its nowhere near as bad as people make out, but obviously not as good as the first two.
