After realising my TV didn't do the 4k HLG stream stuff for the footy on BBC even though it was only a year old, richer sounds let me swap it for an LG OLED. Watching Dolby atmos/HDR stuff on a few netflix shows like altered carbon and it's amazing. Some of the scenes in Altered Carbon are jaw dropping. Never thought i would be this excited about a fucking TV. Fuck my life. I'll be in the market for a TV soon. Would love an LG OLED but don't go below 55" and I don't want that big. 49" fits the space I have. Eyes on the x900f from Sony, which has had rave reviews. Did you go for a soundbar too?

Yeah get what you're saying re having a fucking giant telly. I had a 49 and the duchess thought that was a bit council house, so took some convincing to move up to a 55". "Hey look the remotes got a netflix button on it!" etc etc. Also worth looking at the viewing distance for 4k stuff - It's less then you think - I couldn't really pick up all of the detail on my older tv even though i was relatively close to it. this is a good guide: www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationshipI would definitely go for an OLED mate, the 55 LG can be had for 1300 quid now, which is a bargain considering it was 3 grand when it came out last year. The picture is amazing on Dolby atmos stuff and the BBC's UHD stream for footy and tennis is next level.

if I can stretch to 55 I will mate (ie convince the Doris). The OLED panels are something else. Might just tell her they've stopped making tellies below 55" and that Rumbelows have an offer on. Had to explain what the app store was to her earlier today as she's 'upgrading' to an iPhone, so I'll blind her with science 'The Shatner's Basoon off this TV is 1 million nits, love, we'd be crazy not to buy it'.

I'd get on well with Mrs Mills by the sounds of it.

But I do like the Samsung UI and the cable thingy that they use. The LG OLEDs are the best you can get though, hands down.

LOL, love Rumbelows. The final instalment on my Sega Megadrive CD attachment is due in September. Been chipping away @ £2 per week for the last 20 years. Ended up costing me around £14000 pounds when adjusted for inflation, although I did get a free copy of "The Best of Saint and Greavsie" on VHS.

My friend just bought an LG, which is huge, given he's Japanese and kinda looks down on the Koreans. Said it was a budget issue. I'd rather go Samsung, when it comes to Korean products but will give the LG a look. Selling off my 5 year old samsung for half of what I paid for it, quite happy with the resale value, thought it would be peanuts. Most probably going to be that Sony though. Locking it in this weekend.

never been impressed with LGs UE. Sammy's have the Smart TVs UE nailed down imo.
