Here's a high end one I have seen many otherwise intelligent people get caught out by:
'I am loathe to do [such and such a thing]'
(loth means reluctant and is correct in this context)

Dave absolutely ruined me by telling the whole world it was St. Pancras.
I have never visited that station and fear i never will now.
