Why does Steve Dash need to open up the system? I thought Vasquez was the cunt in Twilo. Were headliners so scared of the warm-up DJ's that they had to manipulate the soundsystem?

I am really liking the mix of light and shade in his programming - from happy upbeat vocals to moody, dark and spare and back again. just confirms that there are no real rules - "you gotta play that with that and not that........." - just good tracks.

agreed. its an awesome mix. i think i have almost every song in there on 12. i can't believe james ruskin's "work" is that old. i had no idea. i said as much in the comments, and truncate responded which was cool. great minds i suppose.
i also like that wink actually uses a looper over top of the vinyl. i think 98 was thee year that i fully go into this stuff. i remember buying urb, mixmag, muzik... just about everything i could to try to figure out what djs were doing. every single dj interview you read had them talking about "ooh i got all me special DATS that i bring along wiff me wax. i create special loops and edits that make me sets truly special, wot." after learning how things worked, it was abundantly clear that none of these guys were doing that. prog was huge at the time, and that whole crew was especially full of shit about what they actually did. anyways, cool to hear that someone was actually doing something extra.

Wink was the first person I ever saw using CDJ's. It was probably around this time. Not the most interesting fact, I'm sure, but hey there you go.
