Any tips on a cocktail to make at home to mark the end of the working day? I don’t mind an Old Fashioned or a Negroni, but anything else - relatively simple - that might bring succour to a home worker?

Screwdriver. Vodka and orange juice. Doesn’t get any simpler than that.

If you like an Old Fashioned, a Manhattan is an easy sub. Only additional ingredient is Sweet Vermouth. Just Whiskey (Rye or Bourbon), Sweet vermouth (1/2 the amount of the Whiskey), Bitters (Angostura). Done.
A Whiskey Sour with egg whites is also good. Whiskey, egg whites, lemon, sugar, bitters.
A Blood & Sand takes a purchase of Heering cherry brandy, but a good and simple drink once you have that. Equal parts Heering, blended Scotch, Sweet Vermouth, and OJ. Stir with ice. Serve.

Mr Moneybags up there ^ Kenton, have a couple of big Black Russians before your bath. Definitely not during, that would be a disgrace.

Sure they do. If you want to make drinks for yourself at home you should have the most bare-bones of ingredients. It's not like they expire. Good drinks require a mix of bitters, sugars, and acids. Once you have the tougher ingredients (the bitters), you'll have them for basically forever as you don't use much.

Corona Iris.
Take a Corona, drink it quickly, and smash the bottle into someone's eye.

Rum punch
Taught me by Saskia the bar tender at the place I got married in Antigua. Lethal.
Spiced rum Pineapple Juice (can sub orange juice if you prefer) Pinch cinnamon Grating of nutmeg Squeeze of fresh lime Red Grenadine Some big ice cubes
Take your serving vessel. A large tumbler is good, but something approaching a pint glass is better.
Add ice cubes to the glass. You basically want it full of ice.
Add the rum. This must come at least halfway up the glass. AT LEAST.
Top up with pineapple juice to nearly full. You only need to leave enough room at the top for a dash each of the lime juice and red grenadine…
… which you should add now. The lime is for flavour - you want a touch of sharpness in your punch. The grenadine is really about colour - no more than a quick dollop should do it. Stir the ingredients together if you wish - you should end up with a rich pink colour. Otherwise, allow the grenadine to gradually mix through the pineapple juice as you drink the punch.
Add a pinch of cinnamon and a grating of nutmeg. I like to leave these floating on the top of the drink.
Serve immediately, and start making the next one pretty much straightaway...

Tequila based one -
Paloma the national drink of Mexico.
Tequila, grapefruit, squeeze of lime, ice. Bingo.
Use any grapefruit drink, ie juice or a mixer or something like Fentimans grapefruit tonic.
Gin based one that we have a lot.
Floradora.
Gin , lime, any raspberry liquor or cordial, top up with dry ginger ale. Ice.
We've had a lot of these recently, absolutely love them. Don't use scotch or derivatives. Minging. Use bourbon.
Classic Whiskey sour -
cocktail shaker with ice, add the egg white and shake to aerate. add the bourbon, lemon juice and simple syrup with ice and shake well. Strain onto 1 large ice cube chuck in maraschino cherry. We never put a cherry in but that's classic.

Picante 1 1/4-inch slice of a Fresno chile 12 cilantro leaves 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice 3/4 oz agave nectar (diluted 3 parts agave to 1 part water, to cut sweetness and make the agave easier to mix with) 2 oz Reposado tequila Slightly press the chile to release its flavor, but be careful: if you muddle it too much it will increase the spice. Add in the cilantro and the remaining liquid ingredients starting with lime, agave, and tequila. Add ice, shake, and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.
Garnish with the very top of the pepper.
Excellent cocktail it's like drinking a Mexican

I nicked mine from Soho House - I could not get a Fresno pepper (where do you get those?) so used a large red jalapeño! Oh dear!
