Watched The Thing (1981) last night. Alright I suppose. By the end of the film I was still thinking about the Norwegian in the helicopter at the start and how he was the worst shooter of a rifle I'd ever seen. One of my favourite films of all time. mine too - the sense of claustrophobia is spot on

Saw Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri the other night. Absolutely fantastic and there is a great scene where Frances MacDormand gets out of her car and kicks a girl in the cunt. lol im sold

So many elements of The Thing work. The cast, the score, the script and use of tension, the creature effects and the set pieces such as the blood test and defibrillator scenes. Just a brilliant film, and I usually can’t stand horror movies as they usually follow the same formula. It’s as good as Alien but never gets anywhere near the same recognition.

I actually played the game on the X Box before I'd seen the film. Was a great game too

Finally got around to watching Blade Runner 2049, was brilliant, especially that soundtrack blasting through the 5.1 system at far too loud a level.
Villeneuve and Deakins are such a great combination.

It’s as good as Alien but never gets anywhere near the same recognition. Bold statement that. Granted it's good but it has more of a Friday night Twilight Zone feel to it. Alien was a genuine horror and hasn't been surpassed with its shock factor imo.

Fond memories of sciving off school at a mates house, watching it on VHS. Monster Munch and Curly Wurly until sick. Great days. Token black bloke made to keep guard but has gone missing when all white scientists return shocker.

It has the same tense, claustrophobia as Alien and is just as well acted, scripted and put together.

Yeh agree, plus it hasn't got stupid cow Sigourney Weaver in it.Which cant be anything other than a bonus. All the twiglet zone stuff is a bit silly aint it? Daft things happening etc. Nowt daft in The Thing.
