this is my most recent addition. i'd never had a piece of dave smith gear, so the price point made this attractive. cumbersome work flow, if you use the hardware only, but the software addition makes sound design easy enough. the original idea was to make it part of a live show, but i've hit a few snags with that concept. i don't really see the toraz revolutionizing my productions the way my elektron gear has, but it's still a cool really well made piece of gear and it will probably end up staying in my studio.

after selling all but one of my 1200s and my vestax mixer (with synths plugged in now), this is the first year in 18 that i can't put a mix together. weird feeling.

yeah, i've got ableton, but not a fan of using it for mixes. even for production, i primarily use it as an fx unit and recorder. i need the tactile feedback to enjoy it.

mrs got me this for my bday. it's only just arrived. really really really fun. as i expected, this makes me wish i'd have bought an 808 before the insane synth prices started to kick in. i've never used an 808 before, waaay more performance based than the 909. i'm committed to get a live show together in the near future, and this guy will most likely be part of it. however, like all of the boutique stuff, i hate the 3.5mm inputs, and micro usb input.

played on the 09. it sounded better than my actual 909. i'd never part with my 909 or anything, but anyone saying that "oooh the original sounds fatter" or wtf ever is full of shit.

The TR-09 is one bit of kit Roland definitely got spot on in terms of recreation in the Boutique range. Others are lacking; although the SE-01 sounds fantastic. My fat man fingers struggle with the format throughout the range though.
