Only ever remember Pioneer making car stereos, no idea how they captured the DJ equipment market.
What else do they do thatβs any good?

...apart from the DJ gear, they pretty much exclusively made car audio stuff, although I believe they started off making domestic speakers (my Dad had a decent Pioneer separates hi-fi system when I was a kid).
Pioneer DJ was split form the main business and was sold-off earlier this year.

Pioneer made some great TV's.
Their kuro plasmas were the best TV's you could buy, until they pulled the plug, around 2010.

I've got a fantastic Yamaha cinema amp similar to that, it's an absolute unit.
Anyway, Yamaha make motorbikes so I don't know what to believe about the Pioneer presence in DJ stuff...other than I like it.
Pioneer top end stuff including the all-in-one controllers are (obviously) fantastic but part of whatever anyone might enthuse about any favoured manufacturer must be the power of branding and spending one-upmanship. Oh, plus some sonic semantics about 'warmth' and 'depth' etc signallng some sort of higher perception. That is always on the go.
My point is this - don't always laugh at people with Porsche trainers.

I admire your idealism. But Sasha don't fuck with no Denon gear

Seems Hitachi is touching on the same argument as smart phones.
iPhones are "cooler" but have old tech under the hood and are 3 times the price. All the influencers have one.

Had a pioneer midi system in 80's & early 90's until I got into hifi separates. I'm currently using a Yamaha CD player which has a great sound

Plus Pioneer have been punting out that $3k new mixer to all the top names during lockdown so highlighted on this board a while back .Clever promotions . Think Pioneer are just so engrained in the industry , with all the top DJs knowing the reps and the PR guys.....apart from part time chef Nick Warren judging by his twatter meltdown π€£
