Is your house mad of gold? LOL
I was amazed how easy it was to map the Mixtour - I remember it taking weeks to sort the Faderfox out with Ableton years ago.
Damo, is there any way of routing the sound back through the MacBook internal speakers? I know, I know, but it's just for convenience now and again - the new MacBook speakers are actually really quite good too (in relative terms)

...i'm not sure mate, you'd need to route the sound back into the Mac, and I'm not sure if that's possible

I’ve tried with RCA to phono and all sorts of settings. Not the end of the world, just for convenience now and again. You’re right though, notify piece of kit, especially for the money.

July delivery for the XDJ-XZ - that's a right kick in the plums. Nothing worse than a delay on a new toy. Have you tried PMT? You might be able to pick one up from their shop in that there London if it's open.

Very nice mixer Damo.
I'm out of touch with mixers/sound cards/audio interfaces these days. Back in the day you'd need an audi interface with ASIO drivers to get rid of latency, but that's not really an issue these days, is it? So why would you bother with an expensive mixer with a built in sound card instead of just cheap midi controller plugged into your mac through USB?
Also what's the deal with these Pioneer all in one jobbys?

It’s the cheap midi controller I’m trying to output through the MacBook speakers and that’s only ease of use occasionally I’ve got a nice set of monitors for the XDJ-RX2 and I don’t use my laptop with that anyway.

The all-in one stuff is excellent quality and a lot cheaper than buying it all separate. The upgrade I’m getting when I get the XDJ-XZ is a lot bigger and feels like a proper club system (according to reviews, which are all largely excellent). It’s a third of the price of buy things separately.

Ah gotcha. Are you able to browse through your library of tunes on the screen thingy then?

On the all-in one system? Yeah, you can, you need your tunes on a USB though. You prep them in Rekordbox

So why would you bother with an expensive mixer with a built in sound card instead of just cheap midi controller plugged into your mac through USB? ...for DJ'ing I'd say you'd still need a soundcard/interface of some sort, the nice thing about gizmos like the Reloop Mixtour Grant has just bought (or something like the A&H K2/Traktor Z1), is that it's built-in, so all you need is a single cable to laptop, & RCA's out to amp/hifi- perfect compact party setup (assuming you're not too proud to use sync!). Some of the other compact gear, like the Faderfox works equally well, but you'd need a small interface (something like the Traktor Audio 2) to go with it, more cables and a bit more of a faff to set-up. The higher-end mixers that have built-in soundcards/USB, like the Rane 2015, DJM900NXS etc. are usually to cater for people plugging-in laptops when using DVS like Serato or Traktor. I stopped using Traktor a while ago, but found routing stuff through the mixer useful when doing production stuff... the new mixer doesn't have the soundcard so I'm having to buy a separate interface.
