Youβre comparing a four channel mixer with a two channel mixer.
I think the XDJ-XZ looks a lot better for starters and for what I need and how I use it, there wonβt be much difference in them. Rekordbox is better and thatβs important to me.

Doesn't Recordbox work on Denon?

I'm due a little windfall in a couple of months so might look in to getting the XDJ-XZ.

Doesn't Recordbox work on Denon? Kinda I think. But it's far from smooth.

By the end of the year, the whole board will be rocking the XZ!

...fairplay to Denon for having a crack at Pioneer's market, but I don't think they are there just yet. Dunno how the all-in-ones compare, but quite a lot of complaints about build quality of the decks.
Poaching staff like Rik Parkinson will only improve things though. Ultimately, the thing Pioneer needs to do to fend-off young upstarts like Denon, is to review their pricing.

Put all that in the oven and a big plate of Winning comes out

Tbf to Pioneer, they have tended to match good looks with good quality. Denon/Numark just look shit in comparison even before you get down to the spec.

I had CDJ 900s for years, and they were rock steady, but when I needed to upgrade I had the choice of CDJ2000s with old tech and wedge, or SC5000s. Went for the Denons and no regrets regarding price, features and reliability . Pioneer are due for a refresh big time on the 2000s .
Crux is though everyone uses Pioneer kit so itβs a tough market to crack . I just couldnβt justify the price vs features, plus I was never a fan of Rekordbox anyway so the Engine prime software doesnβt piss me off too much
The new SC6000s have a much better color combination and look loads more professional. Love the look of the m models

Isn't the issue the same as "Vestax" had in the 90s? Pioneer (much like Technics before them) are a standard and in order to usurp them it's gonna take a major improvement in what the incumbent offers.

Think the improvement is there, with Denons having better screens, processors and dual layer for less money.
Issue is the brand image and everyone still uses Pioneer kit. Only Oakie, Darren Emerson and Laidback Luke I know use SC5000s.....π
See what the future holds . Be tough to knock Pioneer off their perch, but they are giving it a right old go

...did you notice Maceo used the Denons in his first livestream, then was back to Pio's in the second?
Its a bit like out-of-contract footballers flirting with boots manufacturers

OK last question from Grandad here. What are most DJs using these days? Are they still mainly using Pioneer stuff in clubs? I went ALFOS for two years and Sean Johnson was just using an S2/S4 with an old MacBook whilst Weatherall was using AH & 2 Pioneer 2000's. Couldn't tell the difference in sound.
