Agreed. Better to do it to the public via another referendum
If a second referendum is allowed, and it comes back the same - Leave - would you accept it then?
yes, as long as we were voting on the actual deal we would get. And what that would mean for holiday makers, EU citizens here, UK citizens there, free trade, NI and our economy

I've already accepted it. Think you've missed the point I was making
Yes I did sorry - I just read the thread again.
I haven't met anybody who voted Leave last time who has changed there minds. But I have met a number who didn't vote or voted remain who would now vote leave given a second chance.
A slippery slope this second referendum game - pretty sure it won't work out how the protesters in London / Lib Dems would hoped for.
Agreed that "the deal" is nothing like what many leave voters envisaged, who would probably settle with no deal. I am warming towards a 2nd ref but it has harsh political consequences for many of our politicians.
What a great advert we are for party politics and democracy! China must be loving this.

This is a small sample and anecdotal. I know one remainer who said they would vote leave now. I know four people who voted leave who said they would vote remain if given the opportunity again (also a small sample).

The Leave voters you know, what were their original reasons to Leave? The people I know, when presented with an argument that counters their view/opinion clam up or just dig deeper in to a hole and get angry. They really dont have a reason that warrants their choice. But, they still hate the EU. Some are free marketeers (but are well off enough for the consequences not to impact them), some are just slightly racist. The only argument is "You lost, get over it" but they have no clue as to the prize!

I think there are quite a lot of people from both camps who are genuinely so bored of the whole saga that they just want it done with one way or another and as soon as possible.

Amps, I think when you put these stupid deadlines in place to run towards it puts unnecessary stresses on everything.

That's another thing I don't get. Corporatism didn't die with Thatcher, and we live in an even more corporation-centric world today, so even if there's been a people's vote, surely the Tories would rather appease their paymasters? Apart from that Poundshop Worzel Gummidge from Wetherspoons, I've not seen any corporation stand behind Brexit, so the lobbying in the background to stand down Brexit must be sizeble enough to actually drive the political agenda?

Did anyone see the Cameron documentary? The Cons hated him because he took them away from their 'values' and had lost touch with the base. The base being the little englander who hated foreigners but were'nt racist.
Big business had long deserted the Cons because corporations had adapted to the changing face of the world. What we have now is those unwilling to change and fighting back.

I think we're actually at a point where the whole thing / country has been hijacked by a small but wealthy group betting on disaster and political gain. I guess this is true, given most global orgs can weather the storm in their sleep. That said, the corporate lobbying groups are still the most powerful by a million miles, so would love to be a fly on the wall when they are faced with people like Liz Truss.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the EU going after the UK's tax havens was a massive driving force behind this whole fiasco.
There's an interview with Roberto Saviano (who's currently in exile) where he laid out the claim in simple terms.
