That's not directed at you, 303. Just who cares if he was using the BPM counter or not. I hear ya about his mixes overall. I couldn't believe how bad his GU Brazil was. There's no excuse these days basically.

Nick Warren couldn't mix a vodka and coke etc etc. His latest set from Rosario is class. Especially the last 90 mins. Nick has been at the forefront of progressive house since the 90s and might not be as technically gifted as all and his track selection is up there with the best. Absolute legend.

A good example of a bunch of top records being mixed together with aplomb -
Renaissance 2.

i picked nick warren as the example because there really is a stark contrast between his vinyl and digital mixes. his gu mixes show it too, tons of great records, reasonably well programmed, just sound like they were mixed by someone who just learned to beatmatch at a semi-proficient level.

His last renaissance was absolute class and also his Soundgarden 2 was terrific. There isnβt anyone putting anything as good as those two in the past couple of years.
His Brazil mix was like 15 years ago. His other releases including Amsterdam were brilliant on GU
I think his live mixes the past few years have been glorious including his B2B with Cattaneo.

Unless i missed interpreted 303abuser's post, he implied nick warren used/uses it. I was wondering if any other big names do. Big name DJs just pressing a non existent sync button on a deck and just cueing tracks up? Anyone doing this would've been outed long ago so I'd say with some degree of certainty, absolutely not. There's prob Techno DJs syncing FX etc but in the context you're speaking of with mixing records/MP3s. Zero. Sync is a feature in software iirc, standard decks have the BPM counter etc. So the idea of a DJ just pressing Sync is a tired old cliche that doesn't exist on the big name circuit. Unless anyone has any evidence and can post so the flaming can begin? Non existent sync buttons? All the latest pioneer kit has them, as far as i am aware. Not that really matters, beat matching by eye is just as much as a cop out as pressing a sync button.

A lot of big name DJs really do use sync.

A lot of big name DJs really do use sync. Not surprising really. I can see it being useful in certain situations. Using it regularly, for normal transitions is a bit shit though, IMO.

Cox has been spotted using it for instance. Most people who DJ with Traktor. I mean most of them have set ups that are all buttons, Voorn, Hawtin, Dubfire, Moudaber, Liebing. All use sync all the time.
I personally have zero issues with it with established DJs. Beatsyncing is a very useful skill to have when things go haywire technically, and everyone should learn it, but once you do know how to do it I don't see why you should.
But mixing by people like Digweed and Dixon, who don't use it, does sound often more exciting because you can hear small mistakes.
