after months of my shit being boxed up, due to moving, my studio is finally back in place. room took a lot of rehab, which delayed things quite a bit. extremely please with the outcome. brace yourselves for the sonic results. also treated myself to a digitone, which is absolutely out of this world! http://instagr.am/p/BrbH3wHlm6f You have a 909? Did you pay the full nostalgia premium or buy it off some metaler from Ohio who was clueless ? What are your thoughts on the Boutiques ? See you have a few examples . Thinking of getting the TR08 myself

re the 909. i did not pay anything close to the $$ that are going around atm. i have a 106, 202, 303, 606, and 909, all of which i got between 2007 and 2010. the crazy analog boom had yet to take place, so i was lucky in that regard. however, the 909 is in desperate need of a trip to the dr, and the 106 is following close behind.
and as far as the boutique stuff goes, i think its great. tuff to manipulate, due to size, and i hate the audio-out sizing, but other than that its quality. the key synths all come with sequencers, which is very very useful, and the sound quality is outstanding. ll this hate that people are throwing around re the sound, is completely unfounded. i've played with the tr09, and it sounds every bit as good as my 909, if not better. i will say that i do not love the tr 08, but i think that is mostly because that i am just not an 808 guy. every time i have it going in a jam, i end up replacing it with the 909. just a matter of taste.
if you really want an 808, i would checkout the behringer remake. i've not experienced it first hand, but the reviews seem to favor it over the boutique version.

So new SL 1210s mk7s going to be $1200 or gbp 900.
A little bit lumpy IMO. As these are RRPs once they hit the shelves in May the price maybe a bit less. Interesting to see how these do vs the plethora of decks on the market now . Not the monopoly it once was .
My MK2s sound a bit ropey and could do with some serious TLC. Tempted to get the new mark 7s .....

Save money and have someone to care of them. Mastersounds used to do that, don't know if they still do.
My remaining deck is MKII and I would accept no other.

I have a mint condition pair of 1210 MK5s which, truth be told, I never use. My wife is getting tired of looking at my unit with then and all of my records sitting in our kitchen, but I just cannot bring myself to part with them.

Like Hannu said, get them serviced, and for about half the outlay of the new decks you can get fancy custom Rega tonearms/carts etc., loads of places do that kinda work. I think Mastersounds are prioritising selling their own refurbs now, but check out: www.facebook.com/PimpMyDecks.net/www.spartanaudio.co.uk/technics-servicing-mods/

Been perving @ rotary mixers last few days.
Not sure why, just being slowly drawn in!
Can you use them with just laptop/SW combos like a DJ controller?

I'll be in the market for something like that later this year, as in one of the latest 4 deck controllers. There's something about the 10" inch screen that irks me, seems a little ott.

Can you use them with just laptop/SW combos like a DJ controller? ...you can, but the major selling point with most of them is a pure analogue signal path, so you'd need an external soundcard, unless you get the Rane which is all digital, has dual soundcards built-in, USB ports etc. I've been lusting after the Isonoe for a while, but the Rane is a great hub for the home studio.

Was hoping to go entry level with something like this... www.lightsoundjournal.com/2017/10/31/focus-omnitronic-trm-202-mk3/Would appear I can't hook a laptop into it, or much similar without coughing up a 4 figure sum. Can't be bothered buying CDJ's or summa similar as well, takes the entry point too much over the line of what I'm willing to pay. Might have to stick to perving. Feel free to post picks if you land one!!
