Annihilation was distinctly average. Can see why it got dropped from a cinema release outside the US. Big disappointment after Ex Machina being great. Think youre right here...they realised it was shite after filming and ditched the general release Apparently test audiences didn't like it so the studio wanted to change it but Garland and his producer had final cut and refused so they off loaded it. Can't say I blame them.

watched the Gervais show at the weekend and thought it was ok - some of it was brilliant - the observational stuff around social media etc.
I really like him - he is pretty thoughtful in what he writes and doesn't give a fuck if anyone disagrees with him - the TV / film stuff he writes is very clever and some of it quite touching - Derek is superb TV. He may not be the best stand up but he is obviously a lot more talented than a lot of the writers out there these days.

I'd agree with that, Jamie. I did cringe at the end of the show when he waves to the crowd and trots off stage right. I was waiting for Tina Turner's "Simply The Best" to start up over the clapping.

I switched off after 15 mins. Jokes about the brace position not being much use in the event of a plane crash? Itβs hardly Dylan Moran is it.

Just got done with wild wild country. Think it could have done with a better edit, could have cut each episode to 45 mins instead of an hour, easily. Slightly embarrassed for my country men, Osho and Sheila are proper sociopaths and a great representation of the power-hungry, materialistic corruption that's rampant in India. Could be worse though, not as bad as the swarms of western hippies who got duped into that nonsense.
I'm kind of amazed at how the story was brushed under the rug over the years, not too many people in India know this story. And I mean, it's pretty fucking evil. Osho still thrives in Pune.

I'm gonna give this a watch a I don't believe in this fake guru shit in India. Is Sai Baba mentioned as I have friends who worship him & regularly stay at his ashram outside Bangalore.

My old next door neighbor was a 'guru'. An absolute cunt of a man of the highest order. His wife and kids were lovely but he is an absolute weapon

Nope, no Sai Baba in it. They do reference Jonestown.
For what it's worth, Sai Baba has done a lot of good for the community. The hospital (which is down the road from my house) he set up, is free for everyone with a pretty good reputation. They treated my mum once, and she spoke highly of the service.

Does the hospital have a good reputation or only allow people in with a good reputation?

Does the hospital have a good reputation or only allow people in with a good reputation? Anyone can walk in and get treatment, BF. It does get crowded with long lines, I've avoided when the need has arised.

Not on Netflix but 'Chance' has been really good. I thought series two would have killed it, but it's also great.

If it's not on Netflix it should be in the general TV thread. What a shambles
