Morning Brothers,
I hope that you are all well today. Just wanted to see how everyone was really? An old work colleague of mine who started around the same time as me almost 30 years ago took his life on Wednesday and after being at another funeral on the same day I just wanted to reach out and say if any of you are going through issues you don't need to bottled it up. It's not a sign of weakness to talk about it.
So, Man Up FFS and Talk to Someone.
That is all really.
Have a great day,
FB aka DH

Important topic. Thank you for posting. I've had some issues in the past, but mostly related to relationships, so once I got those in order life's been pretty peachy. I have too many friends where that is not the case though unfortunately. Depression seems to be everywhere these days. Something to do with western society most likely.

Sorry to hear that Dan, should never get that far.
We've been struggling of late, 7 months of an extension, working away and living apart.
1st world problems really, think the booze has compounded so giving that the swerve now.
Sounds trivial really compared to people who have literally fuck all.
Be safe brothers

Most of the lads i know with depression problems are avid pot smokers and have spent the large proportion of their adult life recreating on class a's. Yet there doesn't seem to be specifically a help line for these types. Correct me if I'm wrong obvs but there's an obvious correlation. Sorry, to add to this they all seem to deny that correlation and carry on smoking it. I could understand teens and lower 20s denying it as there's a lot to learn about things at that age but when you get in your mid 40s and beyond you should surely be recognising triggers. Seems like they just don't want to hear it.

I have been through issues in the past and every now and then they rear its ugly head. More anxiety brought on by fear of failure, but also had a breakdown (admittedly, it was self-induced to a certain extent) after the end of my first marriage. The anxiety can be quite crippling at times, but as you say it is more about feeling lonely and misunderstood by those around you. Certainly, in a work environment, this can and does cause immeasurable damage to peoples psyche.
Solving the mental health problem doesn't require billions of investment, it just requires people/companies to be more thoughtful.

Let's break the stigma guy's it is good to talk weather its a friend or a professional. Guy's are 4 times more likely to take their life's so it is very important that mental health takes centre stage nowadays.

But, those people may always have been predispositioned in some way shape of form to suffer issues which is exasperated by their usage. It is easier for them deny it is partly their fault in much the same way as people fail to seek help or talk about it. I just hope that they have a strong circle around them that things dont go too far.

Talked about weed and mental health on here before. If you’ve been diagnosed as bi polar, it’s best to stay away from smoking. Don’t let the quacks tell you otherwise.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend, Dan. Never easy any of this.

Sorry to hear about your colleague, Dan. There's a lot of blokes in their 30s/40s etc who go through the mill. We tend to end up as main breadwinners, have the stresses of work, the guilt of limited time with family and the middle age spread to contend with. Add in other halves demands and that sometimes feels like too much. Can take one little thing like that photo of Amps' Reebok trabbs to push someone over the precipice. Anyone considering ending it all, please think of the people you leave behind. They need you.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend, Dan. Never easy any of this. I talk to a couple of mates who are mostly down in the dumps and they both think weed is actually an escape and helps them deal with their problems.

I talk to a coupe of mates who are mostly down in the dumps and they both think weed is actually an escape and helps them deal with their problems. Same as booze. I know, personally, that I need to consciously moderate in that area as alcoholism is only a few sessions away. If I smoked weed like I did in my youth I would be seriously fucked.

had a couple of terrible break ups before (the few times in my life I’d classify as being depressed), I can’t say weed was any help. You end up smoking a ton, get terrible insomnia and the weird part is you don’t even get the munchies. My dad got me on melatonin the last time, and just getting proper sleep was a great deal of help.

I would have gone insane if I'd carried on smoking pot like then. Especially with how strong it is now.
