Talking of increased marketing has anyone else noticed the adverts on Facebook are off the chart? Mine was about 50% ads yesterday and I've got everything set to none.
Is that because people are pumping money into social media ads or Facebook controlling their own interests?

It's definitely up a lot. Would be interesting to see what their subscription and user activity is like these days. Could be an age thing, but I know loads of people that have stopped using it.
Maybe they're flooding it with adverts to get their big paychecks before it crashes
Think the whole privacy thing really kicked them. Quite rightly. Now they own whatsapp and I'm thinking of binning that too

I only use it to stay in touch with what's going on back home. It's invaluable for me and for them to see what their grandchildren etc are doing. I have noticed a lot of my close friends from school etc have stopped using it. Which is a shame as seeing what they are doing is a big part of dealing with home sickness. The ads have really started to piss me off though.

I use whatsapp for catching up with friends and fam now. My dad couldn't get his head round facebook anyway. A smartphone took some time lol. Facebook is really just for entertainment now and even then most of it is related to corona at the moment.

Never used WhatsApp. Same as you my parents are both an absolute nightmare. Skype was impossible for them. WhatsApp would blow gaskets. They got their head around Facebook and it's a big deal for them to see the kids and what we are doing. I don't use FB for anything else other than that.

Yep unfortunately that's what you have to come to terms with and get your head round. Lots fail. It's really hitting me now I realise my parents are as good as alone. But then I tell myself even if I was there id be getting told to stay away. Still not happy about it though.
